APGA Responds to ICC’s Call for Comment

By Sydney Novoa posted 16 days ago

On May 1, APGA jointly submitted additional feedback in response to the International Code Council’s (ICC) call for public comment recommending improvements to the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) standards development process. The comments were jointly filed with the American Gas Association (AGA) and National Propane Gas Association (NPGA). This invitation to submit recommendations comes directly following the close of the 2024 IECC Appeals process.

In the submitted comments, APGA and the other associations raised concerns that should be addressed in future development cycles of the IECC. The comments provided recommendations to ICC to improve its public notice procedures and establish clear appeals procedures ahead of the end of the IECC development process. These suggestions will ensure a transparent and fair development process. The comments also voiced support for the current scope of the IECC to provide energy conservation measures regardless of energy source.

Previous comments that APGA and others jointly submitted on December 30, 2023, to ICC recommending improvements to the IECC standards development process were also highlighted.

APGA will continue to work on this issue and will inform members of any future actions. To see what was submitted, click here.
