APGA Presents at Southern Gas Association Conference

This week, APGA staff traveled to Charlotte, NC to speak and participate in the Southern Gas Association’s (SGA) Natural Gas Conference and Expo.  This event combined the trade association’s popular Natural Gas Connect and Spring Gas Conferences.  As a part of one of the tracks, APGA staff discussed opportunities for educating customers on the regulation and legislation facing them and how they, as well as all family and friends, can engage policymakers, ensuring Americans maintain access to the benefits of the direct use of natural gas.  Unfortunately, proposed legislation and regulation seem to be mandating electrification, and these disappointing efforts from Congress and the Administration were overviewed for attendees.

Then, there was valuable, casual conversation detailing the importance of talking to Congressmen, Senators, and Administration officials, as well as how social media can be a useful tool in spreading the message about the value of public natural gas utilities, and how engaging in conversations with elected leaders at both the local and federal level can go a long way in ensuring the balanced energy approach is pursued.  Learn more at https://southerngas.org/event/natural-gas-connect/.

APGA appreciates this opportunity afforded by SGA to discuss challenges to public gas utilities and how to voice concerns to policymakers.  APGA staff will continue to work with SGA event planning teams to present in the future.
