APGA Supports DOE’s Tentative Determinations for Direct Heating Equipment

On February 16, APGA submitted joint comments with the American Gas Association (AGA) in response to the Department of Energy’s (DOE) notice of proposed determination (NOPD) pertaining to standards for direct heating equipment (DHE). Through the comments, APGA supported DOE’s tentative determinations that no new standards are required for any of the DHE product classes, and asked DOE to finalize these determinations.

The APGA-AGA comment letter also supported the appropriate implementation of the updated Process Rule in DOE’s NOPD and asked DOE to address the final interpretive rule impacting condensing/non-condensing technology in any final determination. Although not appliance manufacturers, APGA members do provide the energy needed to fuel DHE; consequently, public natural gas utilities are a critical stakeholder in rulemakings like this one.

A copy of the APGA-AGA comments to DOE in response to the NOPD on DHE standards can be found here.
