APGA Meets with Commissioner Danly

Last week, APGA Board of Directors leadership, representatives of the Regulatory Subcommittee, and staff had the opportunity to virtually meet with Commissioner James Danly (R) of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). The meeting covered a range of issues, such as the importance of including public gas voices in the implementation of any recommendations arising from the 2021 Winter Storm Uri cold weather outage report, the 2022 February close futures price spike, natural gas pricing indices, and Section 5 of the Natural Gas Act.

APGA leadership meets with FERC Commissioners to communicate information and positions on federal regulatory matters of concern to public gas systems. The meetings provide APGA members with an opportunity to educate the Commissioners and their staff on the unique challenges facing public natural gas utilities, including how FERC’s actions may impact APGA member systems. These meetings play a critical role in APGA’s advocacy efforts, as they have allowed APGA to develop and maintain a relationship with the Commissioners. APGA also hopes to meet with the other Commissioners later this summer.
