Natural Gas Compliance Coordinator – Gas Division
The purpose of this position is to perform intermediate professional and responsible work coordinating and participating in the design, maintenance, operation, and future planning of natural gas utility facilities; ensures compliance with all local, State and Federal regulations pertaining to a natural gas utility. Work is performed under the general direction of the Natural Gas Compliance Manager.
Essential Functions:
- Serves as the subject matter expert for natural gas regulatory compliance.
- Maintains, develops, and administers natural gas compliance programs and manuals.
- Evaluates natural gas facilities.
- Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures.
- Operates a personal computer and other electronic devices.
- Communicates with supervisors, other employees, contractors, regulatory agencies, and the public as needed.
- May be required to work after normal business hours, weekends, holidays, or be called out as needed.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred; supplemented by considerable experience in natural gas utility operations, including compliance and design work; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
- Must reside within a radius of Orangeburg, SC that allows for a 30-minute maximum response to call outs and emergencies.
- Satisfactory completion of various training and certifications as required.
Specific License or Certification Required:
- Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina Driver’s License.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) required.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities:
- Must have thorough knowledge of 49 CFR Parts 191–195 and applicable State natural gas pipeline safety regulations.
- Must be able to interpret and apply Federal and State regulations in an operational utility environment
- Must have knowledge of natural gas distribution, operation and design principles.
- Must have ability to prepare and maintain compliance documentation, audit responses, and regulatory reports.
- Must be able to communicate complex regulatory and engineering information effectively.
