Performs skilled trades work assisting in the repair, replacement, and installation of gas utility lines and appurtenances, investigating gas leaks and conducting inspections, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the close supervision of the Natural Gas Supervisor.
High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Successfully complete Operator Qualification requirements as defined for Natural Gas Technician I within two years of hire. Complete excavation, trenching and shoring, and flagging training within one year of hire.Valid commercial driver's license in the State of North Carolina, or the ability to obtain within two years of hire.Some knowledge of the maintenance, repair, and manual tasks related to gas utility work; some knowledge of the use of common hand and specialized power tools required in the work; some knowledge of the safe and proper use and operation of equipment required in the work; skill in the use of equipment to which assigned; ability to understand oral and written instructions; mechanical aptitude; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, contractors, customers, and the general public.
