Position Title: Gas Cathodic & Leak Survey Technician

Position Description: This position performs a variety of skilled and unskilled work in monitoring, maintaining, constructing and repairing the cathodic protection, performing leak survey duties including patrols, atmospheric inspections, grading and classification of leaks and construction inspection of third-party contractors on the natural gas system as well as maintaining detailed record keeping in accordance with CFR 49 Part 192.
Work involves checking the gas distribution system and customer meters with equipment designed to check cathodic system protection, locating gas leaks and maintaining records of leaks found and repaired. Employee must be alert to the hazards of gas leaks and must take prescribed precautions when leaks are discovered. Work is normally performed alone. A supervisor evaluates performance through the checking of written logs and leak found reports.
This position is detailed and time driven and qualified candidates must be a self-starter and able to work alone. Considerable knowledge of municipal gas distribution systems, cathodics and associated equipment used in construction and maintenance required. NACE/AMPP certification preferred.
