APGA is a partner of the Center for Energy Workforce Development (CEWD), and CEWD is collecting data on the energy industry workforce as part of its biennial Gaps in the Energy Workforce Report, now called the “Energy Workforce Report.” This important resource will help provide a better understanding of the size of the energy industry workforce, attrition and retirement trends, diversity metrics, and more. These data points are critical as we promote industry career opportunities, and we want to be sure public gas jobs are included in the conversation. CEWD has invited APGA’s members to participate in this year’s activities. We urge you to take advantage of this opportunity so we can all benefit from the data perspectives.
Like past surveys, CEWD will include data from large and small investor-owned utilities, municipals and government agencies, all rural-electric municipalities and cooperatives, and nuclear suppliers. They have focused on several specific job roles that are included in all facets of the energy companies (electric T&D, gas T&D, non-nuclear generation, nuclear generation, and nuclear suppliers). All participants that provide a complete response to the full survey will receive the national overview, and CEWD member organizations will also receive an individualized scorecard comparing their company to the national data if you provide company-related information for that comparison.
APGA members have the option to participate in the entire survey, or complete just the DE&I portion of this survey. For information on how to participate, please click here (APGA members only link).
There is no charge to you for participation in either of these options. The data entry process will be open from now until June 1. Final reports and scorecards will be available in November. A webinar on the survey process and deliverables (held in early March) was recorded and posted, along with additional resources, on the CEWD website. That “resources page” can be accessed by contacting CEWD staff for login information.
