On June 7, APGA’s President & CEO, Dave Schryver, spoke at the Southeast LDC Gas Forum held in Atlanta. Dave was part of a panel discussion that included Tim Echols, Vice Chair of the Georgia Public Service Commission, and Suzanne Ogle, President & CEO of the Southern Gas Association. The LDC Gas Forum is held regionally to bring people together from the natural gas industry to discuss vital regional and national issues affecting all aspects of the natural gas marketplace. The event is held annually and is very well attended by APGA members and other representatives from the natural gas industry.

In his presentation, Dave provided an overview of the legislative and regulatory issues that APGA has been focused on including reform of Section 5 of the Natural Gas Act and the Department of Energy (DOE) Process Rule, which addresses the procedures and policies that guide DOE in establishing new or amended energy-efficiency standards. Dave discussed the challenges the direct use of natural gas is facing at the federal, state and local level. Dave also provided an overview of the historic price increases that occurred during Winter Storm Uri and the impact it has had upon public natural gas systems. He also discussed the efforts of APGA and the Direct Use Task Group, which is made up of APGA members as well as representative from investor-owned gas systems, to respond to the attacks on the direct use of natural gas at the federal and state level.
