Regulatory Submissions

On February 21, APGA joined several other trade associations representing energy providers, HVAC/plumbing service professionals, and appliance manufacturers in sending a letter to the new leadership at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Through the letter, the trades expressed their support for the administration's "renewed focus on energy security, reliability, and consumer choice."  The letter raised a number of concerns with electrification-focused policies and programs promulgated by the Biden administration that could hinder progress on these new priorities.

The trades asked for both DOE Secretary Wright and EPA Administrator Zeldin to review a number of programs under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), such as electrification rebate programs and programs that would fund the adoption of building codes that mandate electrification.  The trades also asked both agency heads to review related guidance, such as the use of social cost of greenhouse gases (SC-GHG) in government decision making and the definition of a zero emissions building.

Other signatories included the American Supply Association, Oil & Energy Service Professionals (OESP), National Propane Gas Association (NPGA), National Energy & Fuels Institute (NEFI), and Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors - National Association (PHCC).
