On October 21, 2025, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) issued a Direct Final Rule to insert a conditional sunset date into certain regulations in response to Executive Order (EO) 14270, “Zero-Based Regulatory Budgeting to Unleash American Energy.” APGA submitted joint comments with industry partners expressing support of FERC’s effort to review and sunset outdated, duplicative, or unnecessary regulations, including those related to natural gas. As part of these comments, APGA endorsed the conditional sunset provision while also encouraging periodic reviews to keep rules streamlined and aligned with statutory mandates. The rule is expected to go into effect on December 5, 2025.
