On October 21, the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation (CST) Committee approved S.2975, the PIPELINE Safety Act of 2025, on a bipartisan basis. The bill would reauthorize funding for the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) for five years. S.2975 also includes several other provisions relevant to public gas utilities, including language that would authorize additional funding for the Natural Gas Distribution Infrastructure Safety and Modernization (NGDISM) grant program with some structural changes. APGA sent a letter to CST Committee leadership, applauding their bipartisan agreement but calling for further discussion on specific aspects of the NGDISM language.
