 APGA Congratulates New FERC Commissioner

Washington, D.C. (November 17, 2021) – The American Public Gas Association (APGA), representing more than 700 municipally owned natural gas systems in 38 states, issued the following statement in response to the recent Senate confirmation to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC):

“APGA applauds the confirmation of Willie Phillips, Jr. as Commissioner at FERC. We are pleased Congress acted quickly on his confirmation; FERC works best when its actions draw on the experiences and perspectives of all five commissioners to provide the regulatory certainty necessary for investment in America’s energy infrastructure. We appreciate the commitment Mr. Phillips made during his confirmation hearing to support policy founded in reliability, affordability, and sustainability and hope to see this well-balanced approach reflected in his decisions as a Commissioner.

FERC plays a critical role in ensuring that Americans have access to reliable and affordable energy, supported by a robust and modern distribution infrastructure ready to meet our country’s climate goals. APGA looks forward to engaging with Mr. Phillips, along with FERC, to ensure Americans maintain access to clean, efficient, affordable, safe and resilient natural gas energy in their homes and businesses.”
