On November 7, APGA submitted comments to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), arguing that additional natural gas infrastructure is needed to help keep natural gas commodity prices low. The comments were in response to a request from FERC following its New England Gas-Electric Winter Forum.

On September 8, FERC held the Forum in Burlington, VT to discuss the significant gas supply issues the New England gas and electric sectors are facing during this heating season. Because of a number of compounding factors, including geopolitical conflicts, lack of infrastructure, and more demand of natural gas for electric generation ramping, natural gas in the region has reached historic prices. Furthermore, there are significant concerns pertaining to access to sufficient fuel supply during an emergency weather event in the region. While the comments focused on New England, they also noted how other regions across the country are facing similar issues and how additional infrastructure can help to alleviate these issues.
