Washington, DC (November 4, 2024) – The American Public Gas Association (APGA), representing more than 730 local, municipally owned natural gas systems in 38 states, issued the following press release regarding the promotion of Erin Kurilla to the role of Executive Vice President, Vice President of Advocacy & Operations.
“APGA is pleased to announce that Erin Kurilla has been promoted to Executive Vice President, Vice President of Advocacy & Operations of the association. Erin joined APGA as the Director for Operations & Safety in 2017 and was promoted to Vice President in August 2018. In 2021, Erin also became the Chief Operating Officer of the APGA Security and Integrity Foundation (SIF), a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation dedicated to promoting the security, operational integrity and safety of natural gas distribution and utilization facilities. Erin holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master of Business Administration from Carnegie Mellon University.
Erin works closely with APGA's members, federal and state regulators, and other stakeholders to improve the safety and reliability of the nation's pipeline infrastructure through sound regulations. She has also supported the APGA Operations and Safety Committee and its APGA Environmental and Damage Prevention Subcommittees. In Erin’s new role, she will continue many of these same responsibilities, as well as overseeing APGA’s legislative and regulatory advocacy efforts.
APGA President and CEO, Dave Schryver said, 'Erin is clearly an experienced, knowledgeable resource for APGA, its members and the public natural gas distribution industry. Erin is dedicated to the continued safe operation and reliable delivery of natural gas to homes and businesses. She is committed to advocating for the accessibility of the direct use of natural gas for millions of American consumers. APGA is confident in Erin’s ability to lead, and we are pleased to welcome her into her expanded role.'”

APGA is the national association of municipally and publicly-owned local distribution systems. There are about 1,000 public gas systems serving more than 6 million customers. These public gas utilities are not-for-profit retail distribution entities that are owned by, and accountable to, the citizens they serve. They include municipal gas distribution systems, public utility districts, county districts, and other public agencies that have natural gas distribution facilities.
