APGA Supports Clean Hydrogen Future Coalition Comments

By Sydney Novoa posted 03-07-2024 09:56 AM

Last week, APGA, as a member of the Clean Hydrogen Future Coalition (CHFC), supported the submission of a comment letter in response to the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s (Treasury) release of proposed regulations relating to the Clean Hydrogen Production Credit, Section 45V.

Hydrogen is a gaseous fuel that has the potential to be delivered by public gas utilities in the future, so it is important for APGA to be involved in these policy discussions, as they are happening now. The CHFC’s comments raised concerns that the Treasury’s final guidance should enable investments that will accelerate the ability of clean hydrogen to be an effective tool to mitigate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. As proposed, the guidance regarding 45V tax credits for hydrogen would impose burdensome requirements that threaten future energy projects across the U.S and the opportunity for hydrogen to be delivered by public gas utilities and others.

The CHFC’s comments detail crucial recommendations that the Treasury should incorporate in their final guidance. APGA urges the Treasury to address the issues voiced.
