This past week, APGA staff presented to the Board members of the Gas Authority of Georgia. APGA is leading on federal legislative and regulatory efforts important to the Gas Authority and its municipal utility members, many of which are also members of APGA. Given this, the Gas Authority invited APGA staff to present on the advocacy “wins” so far in 2024.
APGA staff discussed the Natural Gas Distribution Infrastructure Safety Modernization (NGDISM) Grant Program and especially congratulated the many joint Gas Authority and APGA members who have received funding. Also, there was conversation on APGA’s success in having the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) changed through the appeals process. The IECC, which could be a model building code adopted by Georgia, now allows for consumers to have energy choice.
In addition, APGA staff expressed the need for the Gas Authority and its members to continue engaging in ongoing advocacy efforts, especially relating to appliance efficiency rulemakings promulgated by the Department of Energy (DOE).
APGA appreciates the invitation to participate in our members’ efforts, such as this event. Please contact APGA staff if you would like APGA to be at an event.
