APGA Presents at Florida Natural Gas Association Meeting

On September 26, APGA staff presented at the Florida Natural Gas Association (FNGA) Strategic Planning Summit. This conversation allowed for engagement with several Florida utilities, many of which are APGA members. The presentation, titled 'What’s Happening in DC,' was timely given all the current federal activities in the news and their impact on gas utilities.

APGA’s advocacy priorities for 2023 set the framework for discussion on proposed pipeline safety regulations and appliance efficiency standards. There was also conversation on some positive legislation being debated on Capitol Hill, including bills by Rep. Debbie Lesko (R-Ariz.) and Rep. Kelly Armstrong (R-N.D.) to allow consumers the ability to buy gas ranges. However, beneficial efforts like this may not become law with all that is occurring, such as the recent action to remove Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) from his position.

APGA staff believes it is valuable to represent members at these events and will continue to do so. FNGA is also an ally in progressing the 2023 APGA advocacy priorities. The trade association has similarly engaged to tell the Department of Energy (DOE) the negative consequences of proposed appliance efficiency standards. To learn more about FNGA, click here.
