On August 29, Sydney Freed joined APGA as the new Energy Policy Intern. In this role, she will assist the Vice President of Government Relations, as well as other APGA staff, in advancing the association’s Advocacy Priorities. Sydney will be engaging APGA’s members to support her work and ensure success in the association’s efforts with policymakers.
As a reminder, for 2023, the association’s Advocacy Priorities are listed below:
• Championing Section 5 Reform: Refund Authority for FERC
• Encouraging Effective Reliability and Cybersecurity Policies
• Engaging on Appliance Efficiency Policy
• Preserving the Direct Use of Natural Gas
• Protecting Gas Consumers from Price Volatility in Emergencies
• Supporting Practical Pipeline Safety Regulations
Sydney will be staying busy assessing and communicating the impact of federal regulations, including researching and analyzing data for APGA’s advocacy staff and members. Also, she will assist in the drafting of comments responding to these proposed regulations. Sydney will appropriately support any meetings or engagements with federal regulatory agencies. When necessary, she will be working with APGA communications staff to share the association’s position on regulatory matters.
Sydney is currently a student at Georgetown University, majoring in International Politics and minoring in Chinese. She grew up in Jacksonville, Florida.
