After several opportunities to present virtually, APGA staff was able to attend this week’s Mid-Continent Forum in-person. This event was hosted by LDC Gas Forums. While there, Stuart Saulters of APGA gave the Wednesday morning Opening Keynote. The presentation shared how natural gas, as well as the public gas utility infrastructure and workforce, are a part of the solution to America’s clean energy future. Also, there was conversation on “What’s Happening in Washington,” such as impactful policies like the appliance efficiency rulemakings for residential gas furnaces and the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). The attendees were encouraged to engage Senators, Representatives, and Administration officials, too. With the upcoming election, many elected officials will be back in states and districts, which are great opportunities to talk about the importance of natural gas, pipelines, and the utility workforce.

Given now is the time to submit input responding to the proposed furnace rulemaking, APGA staff asked the audience to consider commenting on the significant impacts of this proposal to the Department of Energy. Learn more at www.ldcgasforums.com/mc/.

APGA appreciates this opportunity afforded by the LDC Gas Forum organization, as it offers the chance to inform and educate natural gas industry partners on the important work that APGA is doing. It also allows for the opportunity to encourage all stakeholders to be an advocate to their family, friends, neighbors, and elected officials on the importance of natural gas and public utilities for our nation’s clean energy future. APGA staff will continue to work with the LDC Gas Forums planning team to present in the future.
