APGA Submits Written Testimony to Connecticut Legislature

On March 9, APGA provided written testimony as part of the hearing docket for Connecticut Senate Bill 292, “An Act Concerning Heating Efficiency in New Residential Construction and Major Alterations of Residential Buildings.”

Working on this input with the APGA member in Connecticut, APGA raised concerns about the impacts of the legislation. This proposal is another mandate for fuel switching, which can have drastic implications on the public natural gas utility in that state, and most importantly, significant cost impacts for Connecticut businesses and consumers, all with questionable benefit to the environment. In the feedback provided, APGA highlighted that community-owned gas utilities ensure energy resiliency, deliver affordability, and play an important role in a low carbon future.
