APGA spoke last week at the Mississippi Natural Gas Association (MNGA) Trade Show. The focus of the presentation was the new grant program just for public natural gas utilities that is being administered by the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA). APGA staff highlighted the information that is publicly available now, including what projects are eligible and the award criteria. Also discussed were the next steps, such as an upcoming letter from PHMSA asking public natural gas utilities to describe projects they would use the grant money for. APGA staff let MNGA members know that the notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) is still expected to be published in May or June of this year. After that happens, utilities can start applying for grants.

While in Mississippi, APGA staff provided a few updates on ongoing legislative and regulatory challenges, encouraging the attendees to engage their elected officials and tell them the value of the direct use of natural gas.
