In November, APGA staff virtually spoke to appliance manufacturers as a part of the Virtual Leadership Forum hosted by the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI). This discussion featured speakers from APGA, National Resources Defense Council, Consumer Energy Alliance, and Urban Green Council. APGA staff highlighted that a balanced approach is needed to ensure Americans’ access to clean, affordable, and reliable energy. Electrification would put all our “eggs in one basket,” without having a viable solution to provide for the new generation needed with the increased demand. In addition to brief opening remarks, there was a robust question and answer panel with attendees, who seemed to be equally concerned with electrification and its impacts on their manufacturing.
This virtual panel afforded a good discussion between APGA staff and our critical stakeholder, the appliance manufacturers. The trade association appreciates AHRI letting us present. Hopefully, there will be future opportunities to speak.
