APGA Presents at Gulf Coast Energy Forum

APGA staff presented virtually to attendees at this week’s Gulf Coast Energy Forum. The Wednesday morning Opening Keynote was titled “What’s Happening in Washington?” The presentation detailed why APGA wants policymakers to pursue a balanced energy approach, recognizing public natural gas utility infrastructure and its workforce need to play a role in America’s clean energy future. Unfortunately, proposed legislation and regulation seem to be mandating electrification, and these disappointing efforts from Congress and the Administration were overviewed for attendees. Given these pursuits, APGA staff encouraged attendees to engage their elected officials, as well as their family, friends, and neighbors, to discuss the benefits of the direct use of natural gas. Social media can be a useful tool in spreading the message about the value of public natural gas utilities, and of course, engaging in conversation with elected leaders at both the local and federal level can go a long way in ensuring the balanced energy approach is pursued. In addition to APGA staff, a representative from one of APGA’s members, Huntsville Utilities, was a part of a Gas Buyers’ Panel, providing perspective on gas supply. Learn more at

APGA appreciates this opportunity afforded by the Gulf Coast Energy Forum organization, as it offers the chance to inform and educate natural gas industry partners on the important work the association is doing. APGA staff will continue to work with the Gulf Coast Energy Forum planning team to present in the future.
