APGA Becomes a Member of Clean Hydrogen Future Coalition

Recently, APGA joined the Clean Hydrogen Future Coalition (CHFC). This group is composed of diverse stakeholders with the shared vision to promote clean hydrogen as a pathway to achieve global decarbonization objectives, without negatively impacting U.S. global competitiveness. There are over 20 leading organizations in the coalition, including energy companies, labor unions, utilities, non-governmental organizations (NGO), equipment suppliers, and project developers. All are committed to decreasing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions using the existing American infrastructure.

Recent efforts of APGA, as a part of the CHFC, include supporting the hydrogen provisions in the bipartisan infrastructure bill that just passed the Senate. This legislation prioritizes research that would utilize existing infrastructure in clean hydrogen production and transportation. APGA will next work with the CHFC on elements of the budget reconciliation process, which was kickstarted this week by the Senate passing a budget resolution. Now, Senate committees are to develop bill text by September 15. Because of restrictions required by the budget reconciliation process, only certain provisions can be included. Mostly, changes impacting the federal budget can be voted on, so through the CHFC, APGA will ensure the appropriate Senate committees develop legislation with beneficial tax policies to promote clean hydrogen.
