APGA Presents to Kentucky Gas Association

On June 4, APGA staff presented to the Kentucky Gas Association (KGA) at their Annual Meeting. In a conversation with this state trade association, the latest on energy policies being pursued by Congress and President Biden’s Administration were reviewed. APGA believes natural gas has a role in America’s clean energy future, so there was a conversation on how much of the legislation and regulation proposed is misguided given its focus on electricity as the only fuel for low-carbon solutions in the building and transportation sectors. America benefits from keeping clean, safe, reliable, and affordable natural gas as an energy source. APGA also encouraged KGA members to use their unique voice to educate family, friends, and neighbors on the value of the direct use of natural gas. As well, utilities in the Bluegrass State can engage their elected officials serving in Congress, letting them know that imprudent electrification policies negatively impact the environment and economy. Pursuit of these also limits future ability to transport decarbonized fuels like renewable natural gas (RNG) and hydrogen in public utility infrastructure, which is and will continue to be operated by competent and trained workers.

APGA staff believes it is valuable to represent members at these events and will continue to do so, recognizing APGA’s role in advocating for public utilities, and the need to collaborate with the state trade associations in these efforts.
