On April 13, APGA was happy to issue a statement of support in response to the introduction of the Building U.S. Infrastructure through Limited Delays and Efficient Reviews (BUILDER) Act.
This critical legislation modernizes the outdated National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) to make infrastructure project reviews more efficient, reduce project costs, spur economic recovery, and rebuild America. APGA’s President and CEO, Dave Schryver, provided:
“APGA supports responsible expansion of the natural gas pipeline network through efficient and timely permitting. The BUILDER Act does just that, striking the right balance between understanding environmental impact through an updated NEPA permitting process and building the infrastructure needed to get energy to American consumers.
Public natural gas utilities are grateful for the leadership from Congressman Graves in introducing this important legislation.” Read the press release here.
Knowing how crucial pipeline infrastructure is to getting supply to APGA members, trade association staff will be monitoring and supporting the passage of this legislation as this Congressional session continues.
In related news, the Senate voted this week to confirm Brenda Mallory as head of the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ). She will play a key role in federal environmental reviews of major infrastructure projects and coordinating the Administration's environmental justice and climate change policies. Mallory is the first African American to serve as CEQ Chair. She has prior experience at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under President Obama.
