APGA Supports DOE Effort to Educate Vaccine Prioritization

By Stuart Saulters posted 01-21-2021 08:54 AM

Late last week, APGA worked with leadership at the Department of Energy (DOE), as well as other members of the Oil and Natural Gas Subsector Coordinating Council (ONG SCC), on a letter to the nation’s governors.

In one of his last acts as Secretary of Energy, Dan Brouillette communicated to leaders of each of the states on the importance of critical infrastructure workers, which includes the public natural gas utility workforce. While states and local governments are ultimately in charge of the vaccine distribution efforts, this letter from DOE emphasizes the importance of public natural gas utilities in delivering energy to America’s communities, as well as the risks given frequent contact with customers and members of the public. Given these facts, the energy sector workforce should have appropriate vaccine prioritization.

A sample of one of the letters is available here.
