APGA Working on Vaccine Prioritization for Public Gas Utility Workers

By Stuart Saulters posted 01-07-2021 11:54 AM

Late last year, as the COVID-19 vaccination began to show promising progress, APGA staff engaged with leaders at both the federal and state level. The APGA position remains consistent with that of the federal government in terms of appropriate distribution, but as Essential Critical Infrastructure Workers, designated by the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), public natural gas utility workers should receive proper prioritization. Click here to see the letter APGA and several energy trade associations sent to state government associations making the case for priority access to the vaccine. As well, click here to see a letter to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) with a similar message. As the distribution and allocation of the vaccines will be managed mostly at a state and local level, APGA staff encourages members to engage with those officials. To support that engagement, members may use the template letter found here. Finally, as mentioned earlier, public natural gas utility workers are designated as essential. An updated advisory memo from CISA can be found here to further explain and inform state and local officials.
