APGA Urges DOE to Implement NASEM Report Recommendations in Water Heaters NOPR

On March 14, APGA submitted brief comments in response to the Department of Energy’s (DOE) request for comment on its notice of proposed rulemaking (NOPR) pertaining to test procedures for consumer water heaters and residential-duty commercial water heaters.

Through the brief letter, APGA urged DOE to promulgate test procedures that are “accurate, repeatable, and reproducible and not unduly burdensome to conduct.” APGA also urged DOE to implement recommendations from the recently released report from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM), which analyzed DOE’s appliance efficiency and test procedures rulemakings’ processes. A copy of the letter is available here.

APGA weighs in on DOE’s appliance efficiency rulemakings that impact gas-fired appliances, as APGA members provide the energy needed to fuel these appliances, thus making public natural gas systems critical stakeholders in these rulemakings.
