Natural Gas Critical to the Reliability of the Bulk Power System, APGA Tells FERC

On February 22, APGA joined the American Gas Association (AGA) submitted comments to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in response to its electric reliability technical conference.  The submission detailed the importance of natural gas and pipeline services not only to the reliability and resilience of the electric system, but also to residential, commercial, and industrial customers.

FERC held its annual Commissioner-led Reliability Technical Conference on September 30, 2021; however, it did not invite comments on the technical conference until January 2022.  While the technical conference focused on the reliability of the electric bulk power system, APGA felt it was important to engage in this docket, as natural gas is an integral component of the system.  Changes to the bulk power system’s use of natural gas have the potential to impact other natural gas shippers, such as APGA member systems and other local distribution companies.

A copy of the submission is available here.
