Glick Named as New FERC Chairman

Today, Commissioner Richard Glick, a Democrat, was named as the new Chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).  Glick began his term as a Commissioner in November 2017 and served as general counsel for the Democrats on the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee prior to that.  He will replace James Danly, a Republican, as head of the Commission.  This was an anticipated change, as President Biden has the opportunity to name the chair of FERC.

FERC currently has its full complement of commissioners, with three Republicans and two Democrats. While the Chair sets the agenda for FERC, the Republican majority that is anticipated to last until Commissioner Chatterjee’s term expires later this year may impact what policies and orders move forward in the short term.
