The next APGA Research Foundation (RF) board meeting will take place on July 19 during the APGA Annual Conference. This will be an in-person meeting with GTI Energy presenting updates on various research and development projects including Veritas and the Net Zero Infrastructure Program (NZIP). Conference attendees are welcome to attend the meeting even if they aren’t current RF contributors.
The Veritas protocols will enable countries and companies with methane reduction targets to report reductions in a consistent and verifiable way. Since September 2021, GTI Energy, along with Highwood Emissions Management and SLR, has convened dozens of industry, research, and environmental stakeholders to engage in a transparent and science-based methane measurement protocol development process. Throughout the process, Veritas leaders have committed to engaging with stakeholders with diverse viewpoints to ensure the methodology is widely accepted and credible. To that end, the protocols are open source, allowing for broad adoption.
Investors, policymakers, and industry including utilities, pipeline operators, and natural gas producers are increasingly challenged to articulate the role of today’s natural gas infrastructure in the energy systems of the future. The NZIP aims to equip decision-makers and stakeholders with:
• A holistic understanding of the complexity and value of existing natural gas infrastructure systems
• A roadmap of the research and development (R&D) gaps
• Investments required to ensure today’s assets continue to contribute to tomorrow’s net-zero energy systems.
Other RF projects include damage prevention tools, operations training and education tools, indoor air quality, methane mitigation, gas heat pump technologies, direct-use commercial and residential gas appliances, and more!
Questions are welcome during the meeting. The APGA RF contributes to GTI Energy Operations Development Technology, Utilization Development Technology, and the Emerging Technologies Program, as well as the Energy Solutions Center.
