APGA Research Foundation 2022 Pledge Form Available

The APGA Research Foundation (RF) invites your system to contribute in 2022. Annually, over 150 APGA systems give about $1.1 million helping the RF fund research and development projects coordinated through the Gas Technology Institute (GTI), Energy Solutions Center (ESC) and other groups. RF representation at these organizations guarantees that municipal gas system priorities remain front and center.

Currently, the RF supports a wide range of operations and end use projects that improve efficiency and safety benefiting both gas system employees and customers. A few examples include gas heat pump initiatives, commercial food service equipment, natural gas vehicle technology, damage prevention tools, system infrastructure improvements, and employee training and testing technologies.

Because each system is different, we welcome all contributions in the amount that you feel is appropriate. Many systems start contributing at a lower level and increase annually as they are able. Most systems charge this to their PGA to fund this without budget impact by recovering it from their customers within their billing. The logic here is that this is where it was reflected in years past when it was part of pipeline billing.

If you would like to contribute, or increase a current contribution, return this RF Pledge Form using the included contact information. The standard contribution amount for the RF is $.01/dekatherm (Dth) annually of natural gas throughput or about $1/customer/year. We would like you to consider this amount as you budget your research dollars for 2022. Prior to 2004, all systems contributed at a mandatory 2.6 cents/DTh via our pipeline suppliers.

We hope you choose to join us and help us build the future of natural gas through research and development. For more information online visit www.apgarf.org or email Todd Brady at tbrady@apga.org.
