On September 25, Erin Kurilla, APGA Vice President of Operations & Safety, spoke at the National Meeting for the National Association of Pipeline Safety Representatives in Niagara Falls, NY. This annual meeting brings together pipeline safety program directors and inspectors from each state, representatives from the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), and other pipeline safety regulation experts.

Erin spoke in a panel discussion focused on industry perspectives regarding existing and upcoming regulatory challenges for gas distribution operators. She shared APGA’s positions on a variety of topics, including the PHMSA Leak Detection & Repair Rule, Pipeline Safety Management Systems, changes to PHMSA’s Gas Distribution Annual Report, and collaboration between regulators and operators to improve pipeline safety.

Communicating with state pipeline safety regulators and inspectors is a service APGA is proud to provide. If you ever have concerns or questions for your state regulator and would like APGA’s support in that conversation, please contact Erin Kurilla  of APGA staff at ekurilla@apga.org
