The APGA Benchmarking Tool has been updated with 2021 Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) Annual F7100.1 Report data and 2020 Energy Information Administration (EIA) Form 176 data. The APGA Benchmarking Tool is a web-based module that allows APGA members to compare their systems with national averages or self-defined peer groups. There are over 60 different operational statistics to be viewed, including: leaks per mile of main by cause, volume of gas sold by type of customer, and damages per excavation ticket. Users can filter responses by state, system type (such as municipal versus investor-owned), miles of main, and number of services.

This can be an asset when evaluating system pipeline safety metrics or internal key performance indicators. Some systems also use the tool to validate any subject matter expert inputs to their Distribution Integrity Management Program.

Please take a moment and view or use the tool at https://apga.org/resources/benchmarking. The APGA Operations & Safety Committee welcomes any feedback on the tool or suggestions for improvement.
