APGA Signs Letter to House and Senate Appropriators Urging Increased R&D Funding

This week, APGA and several member systems joined others in the gas industry on a letter to members of the House and Senate Appropriations Committees urging them to increase funding for important energy-related research and development work taking place at the Department of Energy.
Congressional appropriators are currently working on crafting appropriations bills that will determine funding levels for the federal government in the 2023 fiscal year, which begins this October. The letter outlines what programs are vital to ensuring the gas industry has access to the technology needed to continue to reduce emissions and deliver affordable, reliable energy to consumers. The letter also emphasizes the need for federal investment in low-carbon alternative fuels like renewable natural gas and hydrogen, which have the potential to deliver further emissions reductions for the gas industry in the future.

APGA has collaborated with GTI Energy, the American Gas Association, and NGVAmerica to draft and collect signatures for this letter for several years now. It is an important tool for communicating APGA funding priorities to Congress as they consider the future of federally funded energy programs.
