APGA Joins Roundtable on Capitol Hill

On October 13, APGA staff joined representatives from other trade associations and Republican staff from the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee to discuss pipeline issues and legislative priorities for the coming year.

Committee staff provided attendees with an update on their legislative priorities for this Congress, as well as their oversight of and priorities for implementation of the PIPES Act of 2020, which is the most recent pipeline safety reauthorization bill. Attendees were then asked to provide feedback on current legislation impacting pipelines and energy distribution, particularly the bipartisan infrastructure bill and the reconciliation package. APGA used this opportunity to highlight the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) grant program for public and municipally owned gas systems that is included in the bipartisan bill, as well as to talk about the damaging impact the proposed methane fee included in reconciliation would have on APGA members.

Opportunities like this help build relationships with congressional staff and give an opportunity to highlight the issues that are important to public gas systems.
