APGA Supports Letter on Infrastructure to Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee

APGA is a member of the Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE), a coalition of companies and trade associations from the natural gas, energy efficiency, energy storage, renewable energy, and sustainable transportation sectors. Last week, BCSE sent a letter to the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources on behalf of its members that expressed support for the Energy Infrastructure Act. The letter specifically applauds the bill’s technology-inclusive approach to energy efficiency and clean energy proposals.

The bill prioritizes funding for hydrogen research that leverages existing natural gas infrastructure and workforce. The discussion draft also includes a grant program for states to establish revolving loan funds for energy audits and efficiency upgrades. That program would be fuel neutral and could be used to fund adoption of efficient natural gas appliances and equipment in both residential and commercial buildings. APGA previously submitted its own letter of support that specifically thanked the committee for including those key provisions.

Both letters were sent in advance of the committee’s markup that took place this week. The bill passed out of committee with bipartisan support, and this legislation is expected to influence or be included in the bipartisan infrastructure agreement.
