APGA Supports Letter to Congress on Clean Energy Tax Policy

APGA is a member of the Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE), a coalition of companies and trade associations from the natural gas, energy efficiency, energy storage, renewable energy, and sustainable transportation sectors. Last week, BCSE sent a letter to the leadership of the House Committee on Ways and Means and the Senate Committee on Finance, which are the two committees with jurisdiction over tax legislation.

The BCSE letter expresses general support for bipartisan, clean energy tax policy solutions. It specifically notes that effective tax policy should be inclusive of a “broad range of technologies” in order to promote investment in the resilience and reliability of the energy sector. The letter includes a link to a list of current energy-related tax bills or proposals compiled by BCSE. At the request of APGA, the American Infrastructure Bonds Act (S. 1308), which creates a new potential financing tool for infrastructure projects, was included. Because BCSE has a diverse membership, the list was provided with a caveat that not all BCSE members endorse or take a position on the proposals included in the list.

A copy of the letter is available here.
