On February 23, Dave Schryver, APGA’s President & CEO, spoke at the Iowa Association of Municipal Utilities (IAMU) Energy Conference which was held in Des Moines. Organized in 1947, IAMU represents 754 municipal broadband, electric, gas, and water utilities statewide.

In his presentation, Dave discussed the historic increases in the price of natural gas experienced in Iowa and several other states over President’s Day Weekend last year. Dave presented APGA’s legislative priorities which include, among other things, amending Section 5 of the Natural Gas Act to bring parity between the Natural Gas Act and Federal Power Act in terms of the refund authority provided to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Dave also talked about regulatory issues which included activities at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), such as the Process Rule, as well as issues at FERC. Lastly, Dave discussed the move in some states towards electrification and the impact it will have upon consumers.
