Reflections from the Chair: Four Days in Providence, RI

Providence, Rhode Island, is celebrated for its rich history, stunning architecture, and vibrant food and culture. My wife Katey and I's journey to this charming city was nothing short of unforgettable.

Day 1: Arrival and Culinary Delights

After checking into the Omni Hotel downtown, we embarked on a food-filled adventure. Our first stop was Massimo, an Italian eatery where authentic flavors transported us straight to Italy. As night fell, Marcelino's, a cozy boutique cocktail bar next to the Omni hotel, provided an intimate setting for expertly crafted drinks. And don’t miss the 2nd floor hotel restaurant and bar at the top of the new marble staircase. A perfect start to your Providence journey.

Day 2: Eclectic Eats and Honkytonk Fun

The day began with a delightful breakfast at Ellie’s, followed by a visit to the Providence Performing Arts Center, admired for its architectural grandeur. Next was Track 15 Food Hall, brimming with diverse food choices and vibrant energy. After sampling a variety of flavors, we spent the evening at Moonshine Alley, a lively country music venue where Southern-inspired dishes and cold drinks paired perfectly with the honkytonk atmosphere.

Day 3: Academia and Seafood Escapades

Eager to explore the academic charm of Providence, we strolled through Brown University’s historic campus. Lunch at Johnston & Wales University’s culinary school showcased the talent of future chefs through creative, flavorful dishes. Later, we relaxed at Clementine, a chic bar offering inventive cocktails crafted with local ingredients. Seeking out the city’s famed seafood, we dined at Jackie’s Waterplace, relishing fresh seafood paired with waterfront views. Other tempting options included Hemingway's and Bacaro for their unique seafood offerings. On the way back to the Omni, we discovered Reiners, a lively venue featuring karaoke and a Top Golf Swing Suite, an unexpected treat to round out our day.

Day 4: Artistic Farewell

Our final day featured a visit to the RISD Museum, where the extensive art and design collection captivated our imaginations. For a farewell dinner, we savored the crispy and flavorful pizzas at Providence Coal-Fired Pizza. Before heading home, a stop at Aguardiente provided a lively atmosphere and inventive cocktails, an exuberant end to a memorable trip.

We hope your own journey to Providence will be just as magical!
