Recently, APGA staff participated in a panel discussion hosted by the Center for Energy Workforce Development (CEWD), as a part of their Workforce Development Summit. The conversation centered around a new report. In “The Natural Gas Utility Workforce in a Decarbonizing World,” Deloitte determines opportunities for natural gas utilities and their workforces, especially as APGA’s members prepare to be more sustainable over the next decade and beyond. Public gas utilities can position themselves for growth, both by maintaining and growing existing infrastructure and considering skills their workforces need to begin to deliver lower carbon gases. Ways to bridge any gaps between current and future workforce needs should be top of mind now.

Given the results of this research, the panel had plenty to discuss, specifically how APGA’s members are already instituting various sustainability measures and will continue to do so. To read Deloitte’s report, click here.
