APGA Meets with FERC Commissioners

This week, APGA Board of Directors leadership, representatives of the Regulatory Subcommittee, and staff had the opportunity to meet virtually with Chairman Richard Glick of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), as well as two commissioners: Allison Clements and Neil Chatterjee. The meetings focused on the significant impact of February’s severe winter weather on many public natural gas systems, but other issues raised in the meetings included Section 5 of the Natural Gas Act, pipeline cybersecurity, and access to new capacity.

APGA leadership meets with FERC Commissioners to communicate information and positions on federal regulatory matters of concern to public natural gas systems. The meetings provided APGA members with an opportunity to educate the commissioners and their staff on the unique challenges facing public natural gas utilities, including how FERC’s actions may impact APGA members’ systems. These meetings play a critical role in APGA’s advocacy efforts, as they have allowed APGA to develop and maintain a relationship with the commissioners.
