On September 14, APGA’s Director of Legislative Affairs, Emily Wong, spoke at the Carolinas Public Gas Association’s (CPGA) Annual Conference in Asheville, N.C. CPGA brings together publicly owned natural gas utilities from North and South Carolina, as well as Virginia. The next week, on September 22, Emily also joined the Tennessee Gas Association (TGA) for their Annual Meeting in Myrtle Beach, S.C. TGA represents natural gas distribution systems from across the state.

In her presentations, Emily provided CPGA and TGA members with an overview of APGA’s federal legislative efforts in Washington, D.C. She discussed the infrastructure package currently moving through Congress and how it could impact the direct use of natural gas. Her presentation also covered APGA’s other legislative priorities this Congress, such as reforming Section 5 of the Natural Gas Act and reviving the use of direct-pay bonds for infrastructure projects. Emily closed with an update on how to get involved in APGA’s advocacy efforts and the tools APGA can provide to support meetings with elected officials.
