As Director of Government Affairs, Dan Lapato's primary areas of focus are on legislative and regulatory advocacy efforts related to codes and standards, energy efficiency and climate change. Dan also serves as the staff liaison for the APGA Codes & Standards Committee. Prior to joining APGA, Dan served as the Deputy Director for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Office of External Affairs. As Deputy Director, he oversaw the department’s education center, local government liaisons and served as a point of contact for industry and environmental organizations. Dan also served as Director of Pennsylvania’s Energy Office where he was charged with implementing the state’s energy policy through developing a wide range of programs.
In addition to his work with Pennsylvania DEP, he was also on the Board of Directors for the National Association of State Energy Officials (NASEO) and co-chaired their Natural Gas Taskforce. Dan brings an abundance of experience in environmental policy and the energy industry, especially with natural gas. Dan is a graduate of West Virginia University with a bachelor’s degree in soil science.
