Natural
Gas Market Transparency - APGA believes that Congress should extend current monitoring practices by authorizing the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to
collect information
concerning all positions held by the largest traders in the natural gas derivatives market; not just positions cleared through. |
Climate Change Legislation April 2008 - APGA is extremely concerned about the impact climate change legislation could have on the price of natural gas as a result of fuel switching (moving from coal to natural gas generated electricity).
Methane
Hydrate R&D - The conservative estimation of producible natural gas from MH is 200,000 Tcf. To
make commercial production of MH a reality, the Federal government must
take the lead in funding MH R&D.

Gas Quality / Interchangeability -
Recent shifts in the market for propane, butane, etc combined with high
natural gas prices have encouraged producers to leave more hydrocarbons
in the gas delivered to the pipelines.

Distribution
Integrity Management Programs (DIMP) - Rules for the integrity management of transmission pipelines are very complex and expensive, requiring pipelines to identify high consequence areas where population density and other factors would result in a greater probability of damage and injury than the rest of the pipeline system.
