APGA Meets with DOE

On June 15, APGA met with representatives of the Department of Energy (DOE) Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Office and gathered information on two important matters. First, the expected policy initiative to implement the National Academy of Science recommendation that DOE move from site energy to source energy analysis will be published in the Federal Register within a month. The comment period will be 60-days. The focus of the notice will be on energy efficiency and emissions measurement methodologies and processes to educate the public on appliance choices. APGA will comment on that policy initiative. Second, APGA was told that DOE recognizes that natural gas has not fared well in past DOE R&D allocations. DOE stated that we will see a positive change in allocation of R&D dollars to natural gas in DOE’s FY 2011 budget. APGA will review that budget to determine its advocacy position.
