Tommy Miller

O. Thomas Miller, Jr. (Tommy) was employed by the Orangeburg Department of Public Utilities, in Orangeburg, South Carolina, from 1983 to 1988 as the Superintendent of the Gas Division. In May of 1988, his title was changed to the Director of the Gas Division. In this capacity, his responsibilities include managing the engineering and daily operations of the natural gas distribution system. In April of 1989, he was appointed Safety Director for the Department of Public Utilities, which includes management of the Department’s safety program.

Under his direction, the Gas Division has received numerous awards and recognitions. Some of these include the American Public Gas Association (APGA) Public Gas System Achievement Award (1995) and the APGA Safety Management Excellence Award (2003). Tommy also received the APGA Personal Achievement Award in 1996.

Tommy and his wife, Jodie, live on a farm near Orangeburg, South Carolina, which has been in the Miller family since the 19th century. They have two sons, Tripp and Justin.
