Member System Profiles: Fitzgerald Utilities
Fitzgerald Utilities is a local utilities provider located in Fitzgerald, GA. The system consists of 54 miles of distribution lines. Fitzgerald Utilities is unique because they can provide all utilities to their customers, including electricity, natural and propane gas, water and sewer service. Fitzgerald Water, Light & Bond Commission celebrated their 100th anniversary on August 27, 2007. Every year, Fitzgerald Utilities shows their appreciation for customers through Public Power Week and Public Natural Gas Week. They also support Relay for Life for American Cancer Society by providing a team and raising money for these events every year. Fitzgerald Utilities strives to keep gas prices competitive for their customers, and they attempt to make purchases in a timely manner to ensure they have an ample supply on hand to fill the needs of their customers. APGA provides valuable information and resources to Fitzgerald Utilities, and is also their voice in the legislature and advocates on behalf of public gas systems across the nation. In the future, Fitzgerald Utilities would like APGA to provide more state and regional workshops that address legislative and regulatory issues affecting the natural gas industry.
